Colette BITKER
French painter Colette Bitker was born in Paris in 1929. She has been living in Brussels since 1956. Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she initially worked as an illustrator before devoting herself entirely to painting. Her works have been shown in numerous exhibitions and they feature in public and private collections. There have been three major monographs about her work.
Colette Bitker published Une chemise blanche dans le Vercors (2014) and Lettre à l’autre (2016) with Éditions Michel de Maule. She is also the co-author of several books, notably with Ludovic Janvier (2004) and Philippe Roberts-Jones (2012). The documentary film Au-delà du tableau (Beyond the Painting), directed by Yvon Lammens, was presented at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels, in April 2022.
