This second solo installation by Patricia Dreyfus brings together several groups of works centred on one idea: the human presence in all its multiplicity. The human head -- a symbol of mind, senses and identity -- plays a central role in Patricia Dreyfus’ work. Whether in clay and bronze heads, in drawings or embroideries, she attempts to look inside the human mind. Her work provokes self-reflection; it is sometimes unsettling, as it seeks to uncover what lies behind the masks we wear -- including her own. Her practice is driven by an uncompromising dialogue with herself, a search for truth and authenticity beyond superficial appearances.

Dreyfus has developed a distinctive visual language drawn from memories and dreams. Her extensive archive of images reads like a diary, revealing hidden and long-suppressed experiences. The series Les Invisibles, comprising 200 drawings, makes the unseen visible with striking presence, as a counterpoint to “The Visibles”. Together, these woven, drawn, modelled and sculpted figures form an inner landscape where the individual and the collective echo one another.

Patricia Gerber Dreyfus was born in Dakar and grew up in Paris. She studied drawing and sculpture at the Gregory Masurovsky Studio (American Center) and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, while producing several artist documentaries shown at institutions such as the Centre Pompidou and the Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris. After moving to Basel in 1992, she devoted herself fully to her artistic practice. Since 2012, she has been living and working in Berlin, where her work evolves across drawing, sculpture, photography, embroidery and textile-based forms. Patricia Dreyfus' works have been shown in many group and solo exhibitions and can be found in collections in Switzerland, France and Germany.
